2. I agree with you that it is desirable that the Central School, like all other schools, should be receiving full aid, and be examined by independent examiners. You will, I think, now probably concur with me in thinking that the withdrawal of that school from the inspection of the Inspector of Schools, reported in your despatch no. 33 of the 29th of March 1879, has been of doubtful advantage.
I would therefore suggest that Dr Eitel should in future conduct the examination.
3. With reference to the Inspector's remarks on the number of uneducated children, it appears that Dr Eitel has not remembered the comments made by Mr. Wicks on the subject in his despatch no. 15 of the 6th of Feb 1879. I should be glad to be informed whether any steps have been taken towards establishing a graded school shift.
